about us

Michelle

Teacher since 1999.  School Administrator since 2018.

Michelle is a mother of two wonderful boys aged 19 and 15 and wife to a supportive husband who is also a Principal in Surrey.  We spend most of our time with sports, particularly hockey, and basketball.  This doesn’t leave much spare time, but when I actually have some, I enjoy reading, running, yoga, and spending time with friends.

I am a school principal, and have been a Kindergarten teacher in the Surrey School District for the past 11-12 years, as well as teaching a variety of different positions in Richmond as well.  I have taught many grades from Kindergarten to Grade seven, Special Education through LST/Integration, though the bulk of my experience is as a primary teacher, and Kindergarten in particular.

I have an E.S.L. diploma and a Master’s Degree in Early Literacy.  Differentiation/UDL and risk-taking through inquiry have made my job more inclusive, enjoyable, and frankly – easier!

Brad

Teacher since 1999.  School Administrator since 2005.

I am and have been a classroom teacher, teacher-librarian, Integration Teacher (specifically) and Elementary School Administrator in Surrey, BC for 25 years.  Most of my non-work part of my days are filled up with sports for our two boys (aged 15 and 19).  I have a BA in English from SFU, a B.Ed from UBC,  and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Training from Royal Roads University in Sooke, BC.  I have worked with all grades K-8 and enjoy play-based learning (primary) and inquiry (K-8) as two drivers of my teaching philosophy.  Relationships, relationships, relationships!

I have worked closely with Behaviour Consultants, EAs, ABA-Support Workers, (now called Inclusive Education Support Workers IESWs in Surrey), Classroom Teachers, parents and (obviously) students in my time as a teacher and administrator.  I am an instructor with Queens University leading Kindergarten (1), Teaching Mathematics in Elementary Schools, and Inclusive Education (1), (2) and (3 Specialist).

Professional Delivery

We have created this website to celebrate diversity and help professionals, as well as caregivers, to make healthy, informed choices to support their classrooms (universally), and specific children (intensively).

The advice we provide is based upon a collective 50 years in the education profession, with a lens toward celebrating diversity and working intently toward improving inclusion in our classrooms, and more broadly, our schools.

Our Core Values

Brad and Michelle met while in the profession and have many shared values beyond education.  Our values guide us through everything we do in life and in work.
